You've got something about you...

12.31.2023 | MrSpeedOnline.com

Thank you. That's the first thing that comes to mind as I sit here and try to think of what I want to say to all you who have been on this incredible journey with me since I started with Mr Speed back in 2021. I didn't know what to expect; I just knew that I was the guy coming in after a guy that was considered by many, (myself included), a bit of a legend in the KISS tribute world and I assumed that I was probably going to be hated by most/if not all of the Mr Speed fans who had grown accustomed to him being their particular Demon of choice. Thankfully I couldn't have been further off the mark with that assumption. Sure there may have been a few hold outs but overall you all welcomed me with open arms from the first minute I played my first Mr Speed show at JD Legends in Franklin OH amidst a looming tornado warning that almost shut down the show.😨 🌪.

Mr Speed is a well oiled machine that demands that you be at your best at all times. This is something that I loved most about being in this band. They are professionalism at its finest in my opinion and I am so proud to have been a part of their amazing legacy. From knowing my musical parts, to building my own costume, to even building the Unmasked stage that we used throughout our 2023 tour; Being in that band constantly made me want to push myself to be better because I knew that the other guys in the band was absolutely always going to be bringing their 100% A-game each and every time we stepped out on that stage and I never wanted to be the one who was not carrying my end of the load. I will miss these guys dearly and I am so blessed to continue considering them my friends, and brothers in rock.

Sadly my time as a member of Mr Speed has come to an end. Obligations with my work and family has made it necessary for me to step away to focus on those things in 2024 making it impossible for me to commit to another busy tour schedule with this amazing band.

Rich Kosak; thank you so much for bringing me into this crazy adventure. You always did right by me and I will be forever grateful to you for giving me that call that got my chapter in this band started. I learned so much from the time we spent together, and I had a blast singing harmonies with you.

Mark Hermanson; We joked around all the time that we were brothers from another mother, but it really does feel like I've known you my whole life. Same age, same length of time in the tribute business, grew up on the same shows; I loved being around you man and I will absolutely miss jamming (and sharing my buffet table) with you.

Rich Hattery; Dude you're awesome and I am so glad I got to spend a year jamming with you from one end of the country to the other. Beyond music I also felt a kinship to you through our love of building things and cobbling stuff together. You're an awesome guy and I will definitely miss you and Angie tremendously.

Many people don't realize that backstage is crazy when you're running a KISS show on the level that Mr Speed does and I can't say thank you enough to Tina Kosak for everything she does behind the scenes that nobody knows about. Tina is the hardest working member of the Mr Speed family and I appreciate everything she did for me to quite literally keep my costume and gimmicks together on numerous occasions when I needed her most. You're amazing and I can't say thank you enough. Even though they're not with the band anymore I'd also like to thank Paula, Devon, and the amazing Catman Quinton Kufahl for your part in making this adventure so special.

Being in this band has provided me with some the most special memories of my life; the amazing venues, the awesome people, the surreal photo shoot with Mark Weiss, the honor of meeting JD Neff, the California trip, and most notably for me; the show we played at Freedom Hall in Johnson City. It's all been awesome and I can say with full confidence and sincerity that I wouldn't change a minute of it. Even the long 10 hour drives at 3:am in the morning; I will miss everything about the Mr Speed experience. This was an opportunity of a lifetime and I'm so glad and thankful that I got to be a part of it. I never say never and I fully leave the door open to walking on stage with these guys again in the future if they ever need me as long as I am available to do it.

But for now I say goodbye Mr Speed army; it was an honor and a pleasure to be your fire breathing, blood spitting Demon.

God bless, and Rock on
Mike Collins

MR.SPEED Exclusive! KISS Rocks Cleveland!

10.24.2023 | MrSpeedOnline.com

This past Sunday both Rich and Rich were guests of an anonymous friend that wanted to pay it forward to us as fans and members of our KISS Tribute Band for all that we've done. So we were treated to not only the Soundcheck experience earlier in the afternoon but then we met the Starchild himself just prior to the band taking the stage at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

Words cannot describe the feeling of joy and excitement that we felt having a few private moments with Paul in his complete concert gear. There is too much to express in regards to the entire experience so we'll let these 2 photos do the talking for us.

The F.M. Kirby Show Has Been Canceled

09.15.2023 | MrSpeedOnline.com

We're very sorry to have to inform our fans that we will not be performing at the F.M. Kirby Center on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Due to a band member taking seriously ill we believe it to be in the best interest of everyone involved (venue staff, sound company and our fans) that we not put anyone at risk. We are deeply apologetic for making what appears to be a last minute decision but we want you all to know that every effort was made on our behalf to fulfill our obligation but it simply wasn't meant to be.

At this time there are no plans to reschedule the show and tickets holders should contact the F.M.Kirby Center directly regarding tickets purchased and subsequent refunds.

Thank you for your support of our KISS Tribute and we'll look forward to seeing you at another MR.SPEED show when time permits.

High Praise From Jim Neff Has Us Humbled

09.11.2023 | MrSpeedOnline.com

Unless you live in another solar system the story of KISS in Cadillac is not folklore but fact and the man who spearheaded the event is Jim Neff. A little over a week ago Jim and his brother Rob met up with us at the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino in Standish, MI. Jim has been a friend and fan of MR.SPEED for many years even organizing the 40th anniversary of the historic event back in 2015.

This is what Jim wrote and sent to us today, his thoughts on what he experienced. Jim hadn't seen us in 7 years and with the band being better than it's ever been we were honored to have him there with us to celebrate KISS the only way we know how...the MR.SPEED way.

How do you know that a concert was more than a concert? It's when someone asks you to describe the show and you're at a loss for the proper words. The descriptives and accolades at your disposal don't seem to capture the essence of what you saw. Sometimes a show is more than a show. It's an experience.

Mr. Speed orchestrates a true KISS experience every time they perform. The crowd is immersed in something grand a tribute to KISS like no other. The band's meticulous attention to detail delivers on every level.

Recently, I was at the Mr. Speed concert at the Saganing Landing Casino in Standish, Michigan. It was a Thursday night, but around three thousand people turned out. Many of those people did not know what to anticipate. Judging from the thunderous reactions, they were thrilled beyond any expectations. When the final notes filled the night air, Mr. Speed had created an experience forever etched into KISS memories. Many came simply to see a show. They left as Mr. Speed fans for life.

We thank all of you and simply cannot do what we do without your sacrifice to keep us safe.

A Fan Submitted Letter That Simply Rocked Our World!

09.02.2023 | MrSpeedOnline.com

I first want to thank you for such a phenomenal show at Bethlehem Steel Stacks. I wish I could see you on Sept 16th in Scranton. A few years ago, a friend of mine told me that you were the best KISS tribute band.....He was correct.

I would like to share something that happened that evening in Bethlehem. My wife and I arrived at the show about 45 minutes early. We were sitting next to the stage where Mike and Mark would go, before the show and during the breaks. About 25 minutes before the show started, a mother, her 17 year old son ( who likes country music) and her 16 year old daughter sat down next to us. They were sitting right next to the stage. The young lady looked at me and said " I like your shirt" it was a shirt with Gene Simmons on it. We started some small talk between the 5 of us. The young lady told us how she recently found out about KISS. She has constantly played their music and has bought every magazine that they are on in the last 6 months. She also said that her favorite song was Back in the New York Groove. When She saw that Mr. Speed was coming to Bethlehem, She actually thought it was the actual KISS band. Her mother had to break it to her that it was not KISS.

As the minutes drew closer to the concert, she became nervous. Then Mike and Mark walked across the stage, this girl began to shake. When your band took the stage she was frantic. The best way that I can describe her emotions was like when the girls met the Beetles or Elvis for the first time. After a few songs Mike walked off the stage and fist pumped the young lady along with her mother and brother. This girl was in awe of what just happened....and so was I and my wife. As the show went on, Mike came off the stage and fist pumped her again. Mike threw a pick in her direction. I just could not believe how Mark and Mike incorporated her to feel like she was the only person at the show. Later in the show, she received another pick from Rich as he came down the steps on our side of the stage to sing. As Rich was singing, she said to my wife, "I don't know what to do???? Should I keep on singing since he is here singing? " The whole night this girl just clapped, smiled and grinned from ear to ear. During the concert, when Mike was taking a break, he even allowed her to have her mother take a picture of him and her. My wife and I were singing every song, but our focus was on watching the joy and fun that she was having.

After the concert, she had her picture taken with the group. We ran into them again in the parking lot. The girl still had that smile from ear to ear and a picture that she was proudly showing to me and my wife. Her mother proceeded to tell me that her daughter was born with only the left side of her heart. She periodically has seizures and has had 2 strokes in her lifetime. I wish I would have gotten their name to keep in contact with them.

I felt that I needed to let Mr. Speed know how special you made that young lady feel that night.

Keep up the great work.

Rod Pursell,
Bethlehem, PA

We gathered 1500 of our closest friends last Friday night to rock the Nash Family-Jackson Amphitheater in Jackson Township, Ohio. Unfortunately, Mother Nature thought that the "God Of Thunder" should reign down from above and not out from the stage and forced us to cancel the last quarter of the show.

Andrew Richardson did manage to capture these amazing images of us before the rain set in and we thank him for his efforts.

29 Years Celebrating KISS

06.26.2023 | MrSpeedOnline.com

I often say that most bands don't last 29 days let alone 29 years but we are living proof. Our KISS Tribute is now celebrating its 29th year of sharing our passion for the band with fans all around the world. From the humble beginnings of that very first show at The Decade in Pittsburgh on June 24, 1994, to the hallowed walls of Freedom Hall in Johnson City, TN on June 2, 2023, we have almost seen it all. It certainly hasn't always been affordable, easy or glamorous but it has at times been gratifying, rewarding and successful.

Collectively we would like to thank our fans for sticking with us. Through the years we have changed direction, members, stage sets and certainly eras. The one thing that has always been constant is the drive that pushes us to be the best of who we are as KISS fans. We're excited about this year that we're in and the places that we're preparing to go, many for the very first time. With a focused goal to always give our best with each and every show we can't lose. There are no guarantees in this life and nothing will last forever. What do you say that we make the most of each and every opportunity and celebrate our love of KISS together.

Here's to the immediate future, to being thankful for what we've done and grateful for what we are about to do. See you soon!

We Came, We Saw...We Conquered!

06.07.2023 | MrSpeedOnline.com

What an amazing 3-day trip we had last weekend in Tennessee and Georgia. We performed at 3 different venues in 3 different cities for 3 different crazy KISS crowds. Sure it was a lot of effort, sure they were long days, sure there was lost sleep but in the end we wouldn't trade it for the world. Here is a quick snap shot of a few highlights from each of the 3 nights.

To everyone that came out to support our shows we owe you a huge debt of thanks. Without you this trip wouldn't have been a dream come true for us.

Do You Have Our Back?

03.14.2023 | MrSpeedOnline.com

3 lucky fans have the chance to win 1 of 3 "Prototype" MR.SPEED/Size (M) logo tees simply for sharing a photo of yourself in your MR.SPEED swag! That's right...all you have to do is share a photo with us wearing your band hoodie or tee, beanie or trucker hat or maybe even our logo necklace somewhere out there in your city. We're not interested in front seat selfies, photos in your kitchen or any other room of your house for that matter. Get out there and go some place cool and snap a photo wearing your MR.SPEED gear.

We'll choose at random 3 winners from all of the entries. Now keep in mind these tees are "one-of-a-kind" and are size (M). Did you read that? There are only (M) shirts to be won so if you do not fit that profile you can share your photo but you won't fit the tee! These were an early design option that did not end up being used but we obtained them from our printer (www.identitymerch.com) as SAMPLES to try out. They are the only 3 that we have and you could grab one just for wearing our swag and sharing a photo from the road. Include your t-shirt size with your email submission.

So we hope to hear from as many of you as we can and look forward to 3 lucky winners being chosen. We sincerely appreciate your continued support of our Tribute To KISS and can't wait to see all of those submissions.

Good luck to everyone that joins in!

Calling Home with Our "SPACEMAN"

03.02.2023 | MrSpeedOnline.com

image

Q1. Of all the guitars that you play during the show which one stands out to you as your favorite and why...
A. That would be my main guitar which is a 1979 Greco Cherry Burst Les Paul. I've owned and do own actual Gibson Les Pauls but this one even without plugging in sounds amazing and in my opinion plays better than most Gibsons.

Q2. Tell us about your routine of becoming the "SPACEMAN" for a MR.SPEED show...
A. Getting ready, which is a three hour process for me, does something in itself to get me into character. Once the makeup, wig and body suit is on I start cracking more jokes, laughing more and the nervousness turns into excitement. Then when the full outfit is on and my guitar gets plugged in the intro starts, I seem to unconsciously go into Ace mode with movements, facial expressions, etc.

Q3. You've been in the band for a few years now, has the experience been what you were hoping for and why...
A. It's been that and more. From my first show seeing how much of a well oiled machine Mr Speed and family prepares and works a gig to now doing an era that was always my favorite but I never thought I'd get a chance to do and be a part of and to be performing in such amazing venues and giant crowds!

Q4. What show stands out for you as a culmination of all of your effort and passion as a KISS fan...
A. Well it wasn't so much a show but a photo and video shoot at the Palace Theatre in Ohio to premiere the new Dynasty outfits and full stage. It was the first time I got to see the stage fully set up and all of us together in our outfits that no other band as done. It was very surreal being surrounded by my favorite Kiss era and then to do an actual video on top of it was just amazing.

Q5. What if any similarities do you see between yourself and your perception of Ace in KISS...
A. I guess the only similarities I see between Ace and I would for one be our guitar playing styles. I've always been more blues oriented and did solos that were more melodic than just frying off for the sake of showing off. And two, from what I know of Ace, we both don't take things too seriously and always find the humor in about any situation. Other than that, I'm not a heavy drinker, don't do drugs and too busy to party, lol!

Unleashing The Fox

02.25.2023 | MrSpeedOnline.com

The response to our first show on February 11th at the Goodyear Theater was overwhelming and we're very grateful for everyone that turned out to support us. Unveiling the persona of "The Fox" eclipsed our wildest expectations and the fans seem to agree. Rich Hattery has stepped in with exactly what our band needed to take our KISS Tribute to places we've always wanted to go.

The symbolic parallels between the character and the traits of a real fox are uncanny. We see this transition as nothing less than positive in that we adapted to an obstacle, we weren't afraid of the challenge before us, we took action and we've surrounded ourselves with passionate people that all believe in the same goal.

We'll continue to celebrate KISS to the best of our ability and do it as a strong and confident team. You have 3 choices in life...lead, follow or get out of the way. We're going to enjoy this new chapter in our story and we're excited about what the future is about to bring with "The Fox" watching our backs!

High Praise From Texas!

02.08.2023 | MrSpeedOnline.com

Hi there. Bart here from Dallas. Thought I would reach out to give you some high praise.

My dad used to design KISS' light and stage show in the late 70's/early 80's. My dad (Ted) and Bill McManus helped make what we all know. My dad worked with Bill Aucoin daily. My dad helped design Gene's first flying harness and built Eric Carr's tank drum riser with his own bare hands. My dad went on to focus on Broadway and bringing the theatrics of KISS there. He's now retired.

Anyway, I tell you this because my house was the house that KISS built. I know them inside and out. So many tours, so many stories. And YOU guys are the best KISS tribute I have seen. Hands down. I'm a tribute artist myself to Bryan Adams (just started as Bryan).

Anyway - from one tribute artist and KISS fan to another - thanks for being all-in. Having the Fox back there makes you even more legit and above the others.

Have a great day.
Bart
PS. Bring this show to Texas!

Meet The Newest Member Of MR.SPEED...The Fox - Rich Hattery!

02.10.2023 | MrSpeedOnline.com

Everyone associated with MR.SPEED would like to officially welcome our newest member Rich Hattery on the drums!
image
Rich is a seasoned and well liked veteran of the Cleveland music scene and brings with him an arsenal of ability and attitude that can't be beat. We put Rich to the test right away and had him answer a few simple questions so that you could get to know what makes him the wiley "Fox" that he is.

* Tell us who it is that you look up for inspiration when it comes to playing the drums?
RH - First and foremost there are the 3 drummers of KISS (Peter Criss, Eric Carr and Eric Singer) but I also love Steve Smith (JOURNEY) and Todd Sucherman (STYX) as well.

* If you had to give us 3 albums that you love from start to finish what would your answer be?
RH -
1. RATT/"Out Of The Cellar"
2. XYZ/Self-Titled
3. QUEENSRYCHE/"Operation Mindcrime"

* If we ask you to choose just one KISS album as your favorite which one is it going to be?
RH - It would most definitely be "Dressed To Kill"

* Tell us what being in MR.SPEED is going to bring to you?
RH - Being in this band will give me a chance to have fun doing something that I truly enjoy, while playing songs that I've known and loved my whole life while sharing those experiences with many fellow fans.

* What was your very first concert experience?
RH - I saw RATT on their "Invasion Of Your Privacy" Tour at the Richfield Coliseum with BON JOVI as the opening act. I was in the 6th grade!
